What Time Does Canadians Start School?

In Canada in high school they start school at 8:30am and finish at either 2:30pm they have 15 minute breaks but for lunch they always have an hour to do things at lunch like play with there friends but the rest is 15 minutes for recesses.

But in Canada you have to be 14 to begin high school and then you finish at the age of 18

SLJ A Book For Curious Kiwi

It's a big day! You're about to go on a airplane and travel to a really exciting New Country. But your going with Curious Kiwi he will keep you company while you get scared. But unfortunately Curious Kiwi forgot to take his book on the airplane he left it at home, Curious Kiwi is afraid he is going to get bored and he doesn't want to get bored because Canada is a long flight from New Zealand. Plot - The Humans are going to be heading up to space for an experiment because they are scientists and before they left earth they had a Zombie Apocalypse. Two of the zombies ended up jumping of the rocket ship and they didn't realise until they heard a Big Bang on the window.

Story Chapter 1 - Zombie Apocalypse

There were these two scientists (one is a trained doctor) their names are Cashmir Johnson (the trained doctor) and Michael Jordan (an awesome sports player) and both of them wanted to know what it would be like In space.

So they went to the ship there was a little bit of a shake they thought it would be a earthquake so they weren't that worried but before they took off they saw a wave of zombies come across and they heard and felt a Big Bang on the side of the rocket ship they freaked out but they didn't realise that two zombies had actually jumped on the side and they were hiding from them, Michael Jordan Screamed “ WOW! “ Cashmir Johnson Replied “ I Know That Was Close “ Zombie hits the window and scares Michael Jordan, Michael Jordan Says “ Oh Man You Scared Me “ Zombies Replied “ BRAINS “ Michael Jordan Says “ Umm NO I Need My Brains For Basketball “

Michael Jordan tried to hit the zombie through the glass but he realised that he obviously couldn't because that is not how physics work. Then the zombies finally went away but Callam Cutter told his friend Ghoul to sneak up on them with the other window and then they both jump scared them from two different Windows and then Michael Jordan and Cashmir Johnson finally arrived in space.

Michael Jordan gets his Air Helmet and puts it on his head and goes out and tries to find zombies Michael Jordan Says To Cashmir. “ I THINK THEY ARE DEAD “
“ ROAR ” The Zombie Screams Michael Jordan Says “ NOPE NEVER MIND “
The Zombies jumped onto Michael Jordan and this big alien ship (UFO) comes out of nowhere and burnt the Zombies the Zombies died but the lazer also hurt Michael Jordan he had some bad burns too, but the lazers had saved Michael Jordan from getting eaten by Zombies.

Michael Jordan was screaming with pain because he had just got fried by lasers so he went back in the Rocket Ship and lied in his floating bed (not really a bed) Cashmir walked (floated) into Michael Jordan's floating room of madness and said “ Are You Alright You Put  On Quite A Good Show For Me I Was Gonna Grab Popcorn But Were In Space “, Michael Jordan Replies. “ This Isn't A Joke Cashmir That Probably Hurt Me More Than Those Zombies, Cashmir Says. “ Yeah I Don't Think So You Know That Zombies Are Dead So That Would’ve Been Sore When It Happened “ Michael Jordan Replies. “ Yeah Okay You're Right On That One “ But luckily Cashmir was a trained nurse so he knew what to do in these Situations.

So Cashmir done his thing he had to do, Michael Jordan Said. “ Will I able to play basketball when we land back on Earth “ Cashmir Replies. “ I'm afraid not because you have severe burns on your head, legs and arms but pretty much everywhere, you will have to just float for a little bit you can go to places around the rocket but nowhere else, you will have to stay chilled for at least 2 days, weeks or even months.

So one time Michael Jordan was just floating there all alone because Cashmir left him (to rest) but all of a sudden he scratched his arms,legs and every part that was burnt and he didn't feel anything he got up and started to run slowly and Cashmir Screamed “MICHAEL JORDAN SIT DOWN AND REST!”
Michael Jordan Replied “ But I'm running around and I don't feel anything and I'm not sore anymore” Cashmir Says “ Ok Then “ 10 Hours Later, Cashmir Says “Time To Go Home Now Michael” Michael Jordan Replies “ Finally! “ 5 Days Later Back On Earth, Michael Jordan Says “ Home Sweet HOME!! “.

Science Roadshow

So today at school my class 7AL & 7TZ went to this little show well a pretty big show and we learnt about science more than I already did so he told us about temperature and hot and cold.
So after he told us about hot and cold temperatures he let us go and do some things that make you feel really weird and make you want to do more science stuff.
Out of the whole thing today that was a pretty fun thing to do and a fun way to learn about science.
My favourite part was probably everything.

So today we had to draw and get ready to make the large Stone Carving and this is what we are working on, this is what Bryce drew, in our group are,Me,Blake,Waisea And Bryce.

So today for Cybersmart we had to find out what Amphibious because most of us didn't know what Amphibious meant and this is what I got.

Amphibious means something that is a machine that floats on water and can drive on the road if it is road legal.

At The Workshop Again! Passion Project!

So today we went into the workshop first this time and we had to put a little line on the Koru and make the Koru look more realistic and then if we had finished that we had to get some sand paper and sand down some of the big bits just sitting there and sand paper it more to get the front, back, sides and edges more smooth. The things that we used today we used and Grater that we call a Cheese Grater, Sand Paper and Sand Paper looking forward to doing more later!!

So today again we did actually carving and I did a little bit of carving and fixing up my Koru and I did a little bit of curving and taking more stuff off the side and the front. Mine is the one lying down in the middle sadly it can't stand yet but it eventually will. The one on the left is Tyson's and the one on the right is Rykin's.

So when I first became a student in 7al at Hornby High School our teacher Miss Allan and she wanted to read a novel to us we started in Term 1 and we ended up finishing Term 4 the start of Term 4.

So Ally Nickerson she was a good student but she couldn't really read that well she kept thinking to herself that she was the dumbest person in the class but it just ended up that she had Dyslexia so when she tries to read the words that go all weird and then she can't read it.

Ice,Match And Salt Experiment

Ice, Match And Salt Experiment

In science, we did another cool experiment. The name of the experiment is called the ice experiment because we used ice and a match. Science is always fun because of the experiments.

What Happened?
What happens is the ice and the salt together makes the ice dissolve.
If you put salt, a little stick and ice together you put a little bit of salt on the match and the match should stick to the ice and the ice should come up with the matchstick. Also, some groups were trying to make it but they took almost 20 minutes. Our group was the first one to do the experiment I think we followed the instructions. If you don't follow the instructions it will not work.

What do you need:

• A bowl of cold water
• A matchstick
• An ice cube
• Table salt

Instructions:

1. Place the ice cube carefully in the bowl of cold water
2. Gently place the match lengthwise on top of the ice and try to lift the ice cube
3. Put the matchstick back on the ice and sprinkle a little salt along the line where it touches the ice cube
4. Wait for 30 seconds and then attempt to pick up the ice cube again

Why do we sprinkle salt on icy roads? Because the salt makes the ice melt faster to lower the freezing.

Making A Paperclip Float In Science

So today we did a bit of scientific stuff in science because we had to try and make a Paperclip float on water so what you have to do is to put water into a beaker a small beaker but then you see if it can float without a tissue but it didn't so we put a tissue in it and let the tissue desolve into the water and put the Paperclip on top of the tissue and and then wait for about 10 seconds and after that 10 seconds push the tissue down to the bottom of the beaker Paperclip should float

These Are The Ingredients :

Blobs in a Bottle         

Resources:

• A clean 1 litre clear soft drink bottle

• 3/4 cup of water                   

• Vegetable oil

• Antacid tablets (such as Quick-Eze or Mylanta)

• Food colouring

Procedure:

1. Pour the water into the bottle.
2. Use a measuring cup to slowly pour the vegetable oil into the bottle until it’s almost full. You may have to wait a few minutes for the oil and water to separate.
3. Add 10 drops of food colouring to the bottle; the drops will pass through the oil and then mix with the water below.
4. Break an antacid tablet in half and drop it into the bottle. Watch it sink to the bottom and watch the lava start to flow.
5. To keep the effect going, just add another piece of antacid tablet.

1. Does the temperature of the water affect the reaction?
2. Does the effect still work if the cap is put on the bottle?
3. Does the size of the tablet pieces affect the number of blobs created?
4. What is an oil spill and how do they happen?
5. How do ice and water interact during an oil spill?
6. How does oil affect marine life during an oil spill?

Scientific Explanation (How it works):

To begin, the oil stays above the water because the oil is lighter than the water or, more specifically, less dense than water. The oil and water do not mix because of something called “intermolecular polarity.” Molecular polarity basically means that water molecules are attracted to other water molecules. They get along fine, and can loosely bond together (drops.) This is similar to magnets that are attracted to each other. Oil molecules are attracted to other oil molecules. When you added the tablet piece, it sank to the bottom and started dissolving and creating a gas. As the gas bubbles rose, they took some of the coloured water with them. When the blob of water reached the top, the gas escaped and down went the water

This Is Me

Hi There my name is Levi and I am half Maori and Half NZ European and I am 12 years old and I am a Year 7, I also have one sister and I have attended at Hornby High School with my sister and my friends.

And this year 7 I met a new teacher called Miss Allan and she is a pretty good teacher she teaches us cool things and things that we have to do in life later on when we are older. So she teaches us stuff like to keep our environment safe and respect the things at our school like the new school that they have recently built.

So about me I like to play Rugby League,Basketball,Cricket and I like to watch people drift and do cool stunts in cars or on motorcycles but it i kinda funny when they fall off.

Pick A Path W/ Callum,Levi And Jeff

So Callum, Jeff and I have made a Pick A Path but we didn't quite finish and this is all we have done so far.

We done it all about Social media and if you have social media or if you don't have social media or if you know anyone that does have it.

7al Learning Hui

Today My Class Hosted a Hui - Basically An Assembly And I Was Apart Of A Couple Things You'll See.

So for our Learning Hui i was one of the I.T people and I was apart of a play called Chicken Little.

The people in the play were Me-Levi, Rieya, Skyler, Callum, Tyler And Hope and the things they were playing were

Tyler - Foxy Loxy
Hope - Goosey Loosey

So the play went very good and at The End Foxy Loxy ate everyone except Chicken Little because she got away pretty fast but everyone else got gobbled up inside on Foxy Loxy's stomach.

We had a few difficulties but we got there in the end hope you enjoyed this blogpost

How To Make Sherbet

1tsp of powdered drink crystals (eg refresh)
1/4 tsp citric acid
1/4 tsp tartaric acid
1/4 tsp -baking soda.

Put all ingredients into a zip lock bag, stir with a wooden stick and enjoy.

Evaluate:
